to yeild the strongest U-Joint available. For drag racing applications a solid non-lube design U-Joint is recommended (included) because of the tremendous initial shock load, or short duration of high torque the joint must be able to withstand.
Note: This driveshaft is designed to replace the factory driveshaft when used with an aftermarket rear-end that has a 1350 yoke. To use this driveshaft with the factory 10 bolt rear, the U Joint will have to be replaced with a conversion U Joint, Napa pn# 240-0447.
I weighed a stock 3.0" aluminum driveshaft and then weighed one of these PST driveshafts. This stout PST driveshaft is only 2.5 pounds heavier.
We used a PST 3.5" aluminum driveshaft, which is rated at 1200 hp. We sell a lot of these driveshafts, and have never had a problem with them. That is a new 2006 GTO in the background, already getting headers installed on it, pretty cool!
