Jeff Kirk's '04 Jeep Rubicon
This update from:
11/04/2004
Jeff Kirk wanted us to install a Kenne Bell supercharger, along with a new suspension package, on his new '04 Jeep. Now this sounded like a fun project!!! We selected our Jack Conklin for this project as Jack has a lot of experience with 4 x 4's. That is Jack behind the wheel putting the stock Jeep through the hp and torque test on our Mustang Chassis Dyno. We wanted to get a baseline test before we made any modifications.
We got 138 rwhp out of the Jeep, but what surprised us was how fast it was in the 1/4 mile, check it out below!
A 15.84 for a stock Jeep in the 1/4 is not too shabby!
This is the engine as it appeared stock.
The five pictures above show the Kenne Bell supercharger installed. It is a very clean installation that looks like it could of come from Jeep.
Jeff already had an aftermarket hood installed and painted on this new Jeep, but it doesn't fit with the Kenne Bell supercharger! Jeff brought in the stock hood for us to install until he figures out what he is going to do. Jeff might have his aftermarket hood modified to fit the supercharger.
We purchased and installed a new polished overflow tank for Jeff's Jeep.
Did someone say nitrous?
Okay, so what is this? We made up a nitrous spray bar to cool the Kenne Bell intercooler down!
This on one tricked out Jeep!
Next was a set of 4:88 gears, as this Jeep is going to be getting 35" tall tires.
We also installed cast iron differential covers on both differentials. These covers are stout.
This jeep is getting a 6" suspension lift kit with JKS adjustable upper and lower control arms on the front and rear, along with JKS adjustable track bars on the front and rear.
The coil springs and shocks were supplied by Old Man EMU, an Australian company.
Jeff also had us add a JKS "U-Turn" Crossover Steering Unit with JKS heavy duty tie rods and JKS Quick Pin disconnect sway bar links, and JKS drag links. This is one trick looking Jeep!
We're just now getting started with the interior. More to come shortly...
Wow! What a difference the 35 x 12.50's make! This truck is now ready to do some major hill climbing!
All that is left is to dyno the truck now that it is finished! More shortly...
